MBBS Admission

Toget admission in all the Medical colleges to do MBBS in India, one has to qualify in the National Eligibility Entrance Test ( NEET) which is conducted by the National Testing Authority ( NTA) usually in May every year. The tests are held in different cities in India. The results are declared in June usually.

The competition is usually very tough for ascertaining a seat for MBBS.

Eligibility for appearing in NEET

  • The aspirant must be 17 years of age
  • The aspirant must have completed 10+2 or equivalent exams with minimum 50% marks with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology in the 12th Stream. ( 40% for SC/ ST / OBC)

Duration of the course

MBBS in India is a 5.5 years course wherein 4.5 years is for classroom studies and the last year is for mandatory internship in different medical colleges and hospitals. There are approximately 19 subjects who are covered during this period ranging from Anatomy, Physiology, Microbiology, Pathology, Ophthalmology, and a lot more.

On completion of the course

On successful completion of the MBBS in India, a student can prefix the term Dr in front of their names. Usually, Doctors in India are high in demand and they get jobs instantly. FAQs For MBBS in India

The NEET or the National Eligibility Entrance Test is a competitive examination that is conducted by the National Testing Authority every year. It is important to be thorough with the physics, chemistry, and biology subjects of the 11th and 12th standards to clear the exam easily.

Generally, students who get high scores in the NEET examination can easily get admission to Government Medical colleges in India. Those who fail to get the seats, can enroll in private medical colleges or study MBBS in other countries like Russia, Ukraine, etc.

Foreign students wishing to study MBBS in India should submit a nationality certificate of their home country, photocopy of their passport, physical fitness certificate, English proficiency exam clearance, school accreditation certificate, and AIU equivalence certificate.

MBBS admission is not possible in India both for Indian and Foreign students without NEET examination, after the Supreme Court Judgement in the year 2017. Foreign students should clear the online NEET examination to be eligible for medical college admissions.

After qualifying for the NEET examination, they can apply through the NRI and overseas students quota seats, through the directorate of medical education for private medical colleges and in deemed medical colleges.
